Padres are back!
I love this time of year. I love watching the padres play. I love watching baseballs period. I think it is a good combination of relaxing but intense competition. The first and as of right now the only Padre game that I have been to was when they played their longest game. It was 22 innings long! It started at 7:05pm and didn't end till 1:00 am. Unfortunately it was on a thursday night so everyone is my group couldn't make to the very end but we still made it till the 18th so I fell thats pretty far. I feel I technically went to 2 games. Eventhough the Padres are not doing so well. Okay they are in last place and the worst team in the MLB right now. But I am feeling a comeback, you just wait. They will make a movie on this great comeback and I will be the loyal fan that stuck by.

Tag Time
10 years ago: I was 17. I think I was just about to go to prom for the first time where I got a black eye from my date. I don't want to talk about but charges were filed. Just kidding we were dancing and he wasn't the smooth dancer he is now. I just got my license. I was a little lazy getting it. Why get a license when you have a Shelby to drive you everywhere. I also won the election for Social Chair, which means I ran the pep rallies for my school. I was not very good at it. Let’s see what else was going on....we had a rocking 17th party for me and then I took the SATs afterwards. Man those were good times.
5 years ago: I was in Cumberland, Maryland about 6 months away from finishing my mission. I was meeting with people that had only a couple teeth and everyone owned a shot gun. We had to be careful what we said. My companion was from Taiwan and her name was Sister Yu. She was amazing. She didn't know much English and I was training her. Not sure if she learned how to be an effective missionary but she sure learned what telling a joke in English.

Back to the Ranch
This weekend I went back to high school and saw the spring musical they put on every year. This year was Beauty and the Beast. It was really weird to be back to my old high school. Walking down the halls and seeing the theatre that I went in and out so many times. I got to talk to two of my old drama teachers and some high school friends that I haven't seen in like 8 years. The show was great. It was night when the judges were coming so of course everything was going wrong. The fire alarm even went off at the end of the performance. But it was still a good play. I was a little offended when I ask for one ticket and they said "student?" Stupid people.

Where in the world is "Melissa" San Diego?
Did you ever watch that show "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?" It was full of fun and excitement trying to track down this lady and all the places she was going! No? just me. okay then. Well I apologize for the lack of blogging. My life has consist of work, school, work, Padres, work. I haven't taken any pictures of these exciting times so therefore no blogs. But life is really good. I looking forward more and more to my teaching career. The classes I have been taking have fueled the fire. There are some fun events to look forward in the near blogging future. Vegas trip, weddings, plays, and some trouble I am sure I will get into. For now I leave with you a little story. I may not be blogging but don't worry I am still acting like an idiot sometimes.
It was a week ago, spring break had just come. I have really enjoyed my classes. So much that I was upset that we had spring break. I have 100% in the class right now and it is the first time I have rocked in school. I put in more hours at work just to distract me from missing school. Finally the day came, spring break was over and I was going back to school. I quickly left work with excitement to learn more math. I was like a little kid running down the stairs to open Christmas presents. My smile got bigger as I got to school. I got there quicker then usual. For some reason there wasn't as much traffic, which made me even more happy. I pulled into the parking lot. A puzzled look wiped across my face. "why are there no cars in the parking lot?" "Am I going to get an awesome parking spot today?" I thought with the hope that my worst nightmare wasn't about to come true. I grabbed the syllabus scrolling down each date when I saw it. 'Spring Break March 31- April 4' My heart dropped with disappointment. So the week I thought was spring break was actually school that I had missed. And I have never been the same since!

Have a mentioned my brother is a STUD!?!?!
Last weekend my brother graduated from Officer Candidate School. My parents and I flew out to Rhode Island to be apart of the event. My brother graduated in the top 10%, was second in command, received an award for the most physical fit, and was acknowledged by his commanding officers as a example for someone who walks in humility. (I am not sure where the humility traits comes in the Cobas name) All of his teachers and fellow classmates couldn't say enough good things about him. I was so proud of him.
This was at the Trinity church where George Washington attended. The thing about Rhode Island that I learned is that it is only open during a certain time of year. Everything was closed. So we only got to see the outside of everything. There were even some shops that were closed for a couple of minutes. If it wasn't closed for the season it had a sign saying be back in 2 minutes.
They are kind of a cute couple.
This is his roommate on the end and his dril sergent at the end. Doesn't he look like he is going to kill someone. Thats basically what he did to my brother and everyone else.
He was so serious in everything but I caught him smiling.
It was such a great trip!!

A tender flashback
Have you ever seen those shows where someone gets lost in a flashback from their life? I totally had one of those when I was flying into Baltimore to catch my next flight to Rhode Island. A long time ago I flew over the Virginia/Maryland area to start a great segment of my life, my mission. I flash backed to the thoughts that I had as I thought about all the people I was going to serve. I remember thinking pridefully "Are you guys ready for this!?!?!" I wasn't going to take no for an answer and teach all of the washington dc south area. (Don't worry that attitude quickly left) And then I flashback to not as long ago but still long when I left my mission. I thought about every single person I met. Those I taught, who taught me, those I met for a brief second and those that I got to know very well. I loved this flashback for a couple of reasons. I thought about who I was then. The goals that I made for myself when I left. I thought about how much I loved people. I didn't let something as big as treating me wrong to as little as cutting me off in line to let me see who they were in God's eyes. I have decided to try to live up to those goals and character traits I once strive for.
