I love my brother!

Throughout the years I have always been the one to go away for either school or a mission but today my brother left me for Rhode Island. He is starting his training for becoming a navy seal. He is one of the top elite men of the country. What a stud! I am very proud of him. This has been his dream since he was a kid. So there are mixed emotions when I dropped him off at the airport. I am going to miss him so much but I know he will do will. When you think about those people who are fighting for our freedom then you can add Matthew Cobas to the top of the list.

Tamale Day

I love tamale day. Its a Cobas tradition to make tamales the saturday after thanksgiving. We work hard all day and have tons of food afterwards. We invite family and friends. At the end of the day most people are full of food and pretty drunk. Okay I don't really like the drunk part but I do love the day before that. Here are just some pics of all of us working hard and get a batch in before 1 so we can eat at a decent hour.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well the holidays are just great, right? We had all of the Cobas Clan over for dinner and then added the Shiomis (my moms side) over for dessert. There was like 30 to 35 people at our house and let me tell you this; our house is not that big. But overall it was really great seeing all the family, hearing the latest gossip and eating some pretty fantastic food.

Road trip

My friend Caroline had a job interview at the MTC this last weekend. She was trying to figure out how she was going to get up there when I came up with the brilliant idea that us girls should go on a road trip. I was thinking this was going to be fun and easy with no problems. Well it was definitely fun but the easy and no problems was not the case. We left wednesday and stayed at my uncle's house in Vegas. We walked along the strip and took tons on pics. The next morning we kept heading north. We stopped in St George and met with one of Caroline's companion's family. We finally madeit to Utah about 5. While I was catching up with Jen and her newly engaged self and Katie was having dinner with a friend, Caroline was discovering that Salt Lake is not filled with all honest mormons. While she was having dinner our car got broken into. I have to say it was one of the dumbest break ins that I have ever seen. They tried to take the radio which is worth about 50 dollars but didn't take it. They did take her camera which is one of the first digital cameras around so it was worth with 25 bucks. It did have all of our fun pictures on it so we were bummed about that. Thats why there isn't any pictures from the trip. I let Caroline use mine since she was going to see a lot of friends she hasn't seen in a while. But other then that they broke my FM transmitter for the iPod and threw her chapstick on the ground and left. So the next day was spent fixing the car. I had fun though. I was able to see two of my girls graduate from the program I worked at. I got my haircut, saw a movie, went swing dancing. It was quick and I wish I would have been able to see alot more people but next time.

We went up to temple square and saw the Joseph Smith movie. I loved it. I may have shed a few tears.

This is me and my mission buddy Kammy. One of the only pics I got of my friends.

Who says Halloween in over

There was suppose to be a halloween boat dance right before halloween but because of the fires it was rescheduled for last night. Which was good for me because I had to work on the night of the original boat dance. It was fun filled night of dancing and friends. I was a pirate. I got really into my character and threaten to make any one that was not having fun to walk the plank. The dance started at 11 and didn't get done till 2 in the morning. I got home around 330 am! I was so tired by the end of the night. I don't know how I use to be able to do these late nights just a couple of years ago. But all and all it was a great evening!

Girl Power!

I was having kind of a tough day. Just had a hard time to being motivated and was a little down. As I was going to work I hit a rock and ended up popping my tire. I took this little misfortune to change my whole day. Instead of crying even more of my day I literally rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I changed my own tire! I had one random guy walk past and asked if I knew how to do it then kept walking and cars that passed by without stopping. So I was on my own! I got down and dirty. And afterwards an old lady who was gardening congratulated me on being able to change a tire. I felt so much better and accomplished afterwards!!
