Tonight I went to Bodies the Exhibition. It was amazing. They were able to perserve human parts and show them to us. Basically we were able to see what is inside of us. They showed us a healthy lung compared to a smokers lung, the brain after a stroke, and much more stuff. I so appriecative of my body after learning how everything works. My plan for the 2008 year is to go on a diet and this exhibit helped me see literally where everything goes and how it all works together. I mean afterwards we did go spilt a double chocolate brownie. Its not 2008 yet so don't judge. The exhibit travels all aroudn so if it comes to your neck of the woods then go see it. Here's the website to see when its coming or too learn a little more about what they do.

Christmas in May
I am doing my shopping in May next year. I just got home from spending 4 hours getting only a couple of items from 2 different places. I already knew what I wanted and was thinking I was going to be in then out. I didn't calculate everyone else trying to get in and out. It took forever to get home. Traffic doesn't really bring in the holiday cheer!

Never leave home without it!
I have been working at the temple for 3 weeks now. I finally went to bed early and got up early to really get ready. When I got to the temple I couldn't find my recommend anywhere!! I talked to the front desk and they had to talk to the presidency to see if I could come in. So I thought I was getting blessed but then I was making so many mistakes during my shift. It was more then just messing up on the words. I accidentally poked a girl in the eye, sent someone who was all dressed in her temple clothes out in the lobby, and other embarrassing things. Not sure if I was being taught a lesson on always bringing your recommend to the temple. Minor detail.

Department 56
A couple of weeks ago I went with Shelby to get her first addition to her Department 56 village. We spent like 2 hours picking one out. We were first going for the Dickens Village but after much debating we went for the original snow village. We first said no to it right away but then they started to warm up to it till we loved it. Well it was all fun for her but I was convinced on the villages too. So Shelby was nice enough to buy me my first piece for Christmas. Its a high school and it lights up. I am going to save money through out the next year so I can buy another one next year and continue to add on each year. You should check out the website. Such cute things. http://www.department56.com/

Good Ol' Gingerbread House
At our family home evening last night we made ginger bread houses. I am not bragging because we made it but ours was the best! We even got really detailed in our house.

BYU takes over San Diego
Because of the fires about a month ago the BYU vs SDSU game was rescheduled for last night. Now usually when you go to a home game you think there would be more fans for the home team. That was not the case for this game. When BYU scored more then half of the fans were cougar fans! BYU killed SDSU. It was a little bit of a flashback to those fun games in Provo, UT. Go Cougars!

I love my brother!
Throughout the years I have always been the one to go away for either school or a mission but today my brother left me for Rhode Island. He is starting his training for becoming a navy seal. He is one of the top elite men of the country. What a stud! I am very proud of him. This has been his dream since he was a kid. So there are mixed emotions when I dropped him off at the airport. I am going to miss him so much but I know he will do will. When you think about those people who are fighting for our freedom then you can add Matthew Cobas to the top of the list.

Tamale Day
I love tamale day. Its a Cobas tradition to make tamales the saturday after thanksgiving. We work hard all day and have tons of food afterwards. We invite family and friends. At the end of the day most people are full of food and pretty drunk. Okay I don't really like the drunk part but I do love the day before that. Here are just some pics of all of us working hard and get a batch in before 1 so we can eat at a decent hour.

A light at the end of the tunnel
The evacuation for our area of Fallbrook has been lifted. One quick thought: why did they call us to tell us that our evacuation has been lifted? If my parents listen to them then they shouldn't be there to get the call. But whatever.
So I am going to head home tonight. There is still tons of smoke but our house looks safe. No camp outs or bon fires for me for a while.

Update
Well it was all fun and games until someone needs to evacuate. The fire was at first taken lightly and a great excuse to skip work but now its starting to get a little serious. The rice fire is the one that is most threatening to us. We have been on the look out all throughout the night and today. My parents are still at the house and waiting till they have to leave. My brother and I took off. We packed some bags with personal stuff and headed for safety. He is at his friend's parents house and I went up to LA where my grandma and Shelby are. From what it sounds like the fire is heading north west from us. Hopefully the winds continue to agree with us and keep calm so we can control the fire. Tough time for So Cal but we are handling it like pros.

Anyone up for S'mores
So I went into work today and was getting the guys ready for the day and also listening to the news. I heard that they were evacuating north of 76. I paused for a second and said hey I am north of the 76. They proceeded to say people east of I-5 and west of I-15. Again I thought hey thats me! I jumped in my car and headed home. As I continue to listen to the radio I guess it was 56 not the 76. 56 is a lot farther south then I am. But I was already half way home so I decided to just keep going.
The fires down here are a little out of control. We are okay and safe for now. There is a fire by us but it is not heading in our direction. The mayor came out and advised those that could stay home from work to do so. I took that counsel to heart and took the day off. It was a hard decision but I feel it is very important to follow our local leaders.
So we are just sitting here waiting hoping the winds don't shift to much.

A quick trip to Utah
I just got back from a quick trip up to Utah. I went mainly for Emily's wedding. It was a beautiful day and wedding. She just looked as happy as could be. Which is pretty good since it was her wedding day.
I have to admit when I got to Utah I forgot how beautiful it gets in the fall. On saturday there was a snow fall. I didn't want to go anywhere because I HATE driving in the snow. It was gorgeous to see the snow lay upon the mountain.

New Layouts
So I thought I would get into the halloween/fall spirit. There is a website that has some fun blogs if you are tired of the ones we have to choose from. I know I was. It does erase your quick links though. I am not sure nor do I know how to fix it. Some times it costs to have a cute blog background.

Have fun with your blog.
